COMPETITIONS

Allott Trophy    Troughers Trophy    Rugby and District League    Coventry League

Each month there is a Saturday night event at Clifton, organised by Chris and Clive. We meet at 6:00pm for food and Duplicate Bridge starts at 7:00pm.

The Bridge Format changes alternately, from Teams to Pairs. A Handicap system ensures that everyone has a chance of winning.

The Troughers Trophy (second Saturday of each even month) has teams drawn at random to combine an "Expert" pair with an "Improvers" pair. The winners of the trophy are judged on the basis of the best 4 performances out of a possible 6 in the year.

The Allott Trophy (second Saturday of each odd month) is a Pairs event, again with the Trophy going to the winners on the basis of the best 4 performances out of a possible 6 in the year

The 2006 Children in Need Simultaneous Pairs will be on Tuesday 14th November. There will be no Host that night so find yourself a partner.

Further events could be held if the membership is in favour. The last simultaneous pairs event was in fact held on a Thursday night at Ashlawn.

An EBU Simultaneous Pairs event is held in November, the highest scoring Rugby pair receiving the Perrin Trophy.

The Club runs a Duplicate Pairs Competition for the Julia Mills Trophy organised by Peter Langley. In 2006 this was on Sunday 30th April.

The Club is also involved each year in a major Open Competition, held in Rugby, and organised by Chris Malthouse and the Rugby Rokeby Lions as a Charity Event. It is for the "Salt Cellars" Trophy

Rugby and District Bridge League

Rugby and District Bridge League was originally set up by members of the Club and benefited from a grant from the Club, but is now independent in its organisation and finance. It welcomes on to its committee members from any of the teams playing in the league. The League has two divisions, with league and cup competitions, it welcomes applications for membership from teams within the locality. Information on the league can be obtained from the Fixtures Secretary Christine Cooper. A new league website giving information on Fixtures and Results can be found at www.rugbybridgeleague.com

Coventry Bridge League

To take advantage of a higher level of competition The Club also has teams which perform successfully in the Coventry Bridge League.
